Peru - 10 days / 9 nights
DAY 1: LIMA
Flight from Montréal to Lima.On arrival at the airport, you will be met by your tour guide who will escort the group for the whole stay.
Transfer, about 30 minutes, by private motor coach to the hotel José Luis, little hotel in the Miraflores quarter.
Night at your hotel.
DAY 2: LIMA / PISCO / ICA
Meals included: breakfast and dinner.Departure by bus early in the morning for the city of Pisco by the Pan-American road, following the Pacific coast (4-hour trip). This city gave its name to the national beverage, the Pisco.
Visit of the Ballestas Island, often called the Peruvian Galapagos! It is a 2-hour boat trip on the Pacific ocean.
After lunch, continuation to Ica, a urban city located in the desert. You will pass by the Oasis of Huacachina, a natural treasure in the middle of nowhere!
Check-in and night at your hostel.
DAY 3: ICA / NAZCA
Meals included: breakfast and dinner.Visit of the city of Ica and its regional museum. Then, continuation south to Nazca.
Arrival in Nazca at the end of the afternoon, free time.
Check in and night at the Hostel Las lineas (or similar).
DAY 4: NAZCA / AREQUIPA
Meals included: breakfast and lunch.Flight over the Nazca lines (optional), renown for their unusual dimensions, forms and their mysterious origins and significations.
Typical lunch at the Pachamanca, located in an old house, before the trajectory to Arequipa. You will be 9 hours in the motorcoach…
Arrival at the sunny city of Arequipa (about 300 days of sun yearly) at the beginning of the evening.
Check-in and night at the hostel Premier (or similar).
DAY 5: AREQUIPA
Meals included: breakfast and dinner.Free time in the morning to walk around the « white city » with its houses built with a derivative of volcanic lava. You can also relax at the hotel.
After lunch, go further into the city and its history: visit with your guide of Carmen Alto, Yanahuara mirador, 1548 cathedral, San Franscico convent, San Compania de Jesus church and the Santa Catalina convent, which is an incredible city in the middle of Arequipa, with streets, places and charming colored rooms.
Night at your hostel.
DAY 6: AREQUIPA / CUZCO (3400m)
Meals included: breakfast and dinner.Transfer to the airport of Arequipa for a quick flight to Cuzco.
Leave your luggage at the hotel Inti, well- located, and walk inside the city of Cuzco for a first move into the old Capital of the Inca empire. The city has typical markets where you can buy souvenirs.
Night at the hotel.
DAY 7: CUZCO / SACRED VALLEY / CUZCO
Meals included: breakfast and dinner.After breakfast, leave in direction of the Inca’s Sacred Valley.
This region, located about 700 meters lower than Cuzco, benefits from a wonderful weather and fertile ground where the Incas have lived.
First stop at Chinchero, a local village, to visit the colonial church built in the 15th centuries.
Continuation to Ollantaytambo, the historic fortress where the Incas have won against the conquistadores.
After lunch, continue on the way to Pisac to visit the famous ruins on top of the valley. In Pisac, you will find one of the richest artisan market of Peru.
Return to Cuzco.
Night at your hotel.
DAY 8: CUZCO / MACHU PICCHU / CUZCO
Meals included: breakfast and dinner.Waking up early in the morning to catch the first train called the Andes train. It will bring you at the bottom of the Machu Picchu, a place called Aguas Calientes (hot waters), 2-hour train trip.
There, a shuttle brings you to the top of the historic wonder. (20 minutes).
Enjoy 3 hours on site with a guided tour of this famous Inca site, known everywhere in the world. This is the “must” of your trip!
Return with the shuttle to Aguas Calientes at the beginning of the afternoon. Free time during the waiting of the train who will transfer you to Cuzco. Arrival at the beginning of the evening.
Night at the hotel Inti.
DAY 9: CUZCO / LIMA
Meals included: breakfast and dinner.Before leaving Cusco, visit of 4 archeological sites where you will learn very interesting aspect of Peru and Inca’s history.
-Saqsaywaman: mysterious ruins still baffling the archeologists.
-Q’enko: a fabulous labyrinth where sacrifices where made.
-Puka Pukara: an old control tower built to protect the way to Cuzco.
-Tambo Machay: ancient peace area for the Incas.
Free time for lunch. Transfer to the airport of Cuzco for a short flight to Lima (1 hour).
Return to Miraflores at the hostel José Luis.
Night at the hotel.
DAY 10: LIMA
After breakfast (may not be included depending of your flight schedule)Transfer to the airport. Flight back to Montréal.
