Costa Rica Adventures

DAY 1 

Departure flight 

Upon arrival at San José’s International airport, the group will be met by the tour leader. San Jose is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with all the conveniences of other modern cities. The sprawling capital is nestled in the fertile “Valle Central” (Central Valley) and surrounded on all sides by large forested mountain ranges, some of which include active volcanoes, perennially green savannahs and working coffeeplantations. Transfer by bus towards your accommodation in San José. 

END OF BUS SERVICES FOR THE DAY. 

Dinner at your own charge 

Overnight in San José in a  hotel.
  

DAY 2 


Breakfast 
Transfer towards La Fortuna. 

Lunch Visit Arenal National Park. The Arenal Volcano is the only volcano in Costa Rica constantly active since it woke up after 400 years with the big 1968 eruption producing huge ash columns, explosions & glowing red lava almost every day. It is considered one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world. Dinner and overnight in La Fortuna in a hotel

DAY 3
Breakfast 

Visit of the Catarata de La Fortuna (Waterfalls). 

Lunch  Enjoy Tabacon’s hot springs (or Baldi or Termales del bosque). The Tabacón Hot Springs perfectly combine mineral content, volume and temperature. While there are many hot springs destinations around the world, few offer this special balance set in a splendorous natural paradise.  

Dinner and overnight in La Fortuna in a hotel. 

DAY 4

Breakfast 

Transfer from Arenal to Monteverde by bus. 

Lunch 

Take part in the Original Canopy Tour in Santa Elena de Monteverde. The Original Canopy Tour offers everyone an exhilarating opportunity to soar through the rain forest high above the forest floor. There you will view jungle life from a perspective previously reserved for a select group of researchers and photographers. 

Dinner and overnight in Monteverde in dorms. 
 

DAY 5


Breakfast 

Discover Monteverde cloudforest Biological Reserve. The spectacular Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve feels like walking in a grandiose green Cathedral. Wind-sculptured elfin woodlands on the exposed ridges are spectacularly dwarfed, whereas protected cove Monteverde rainforests have majestically tall trees festooned with orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines, and mosses. 

Lunch 

Transfer towards Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park. 

Dinner and overnight in Rincon de la Vieja in a hotel.
  

DAY 6

Breakfast 

Hiking in Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park. You have two choices, either do the ascension all the way up to the crater (7 hours – advanced level – very hard and may not be possible according to weather) or discover the secondary volcanic activities (2-3 hours – easy level). 

Dinner and overnight in Rincon de la Vieja in a hotel.   


DAY 7


Breakfast. This morning, enjoy the hot springs, the oropendola waterfall, the volcanic mud baths. 

Lunch 

Visit of the handcrafts village of Guaytil. Transfer towards Playa Grande. 

Dinner and overnight in Playa Grande in a hotel. 


DAY 8

Breakfast This morning, enjoy the beach in Playa Grande.  

Lunch Transfer back to San Jose (5.5-hour ride). 

Overnight in San José in a hotel.

 

DAY 9 

Breakfast 

Visit of Britt Coffee Plantation (45 minute-ride).  

Buffet lunch at Café Britt. Rest of the day at leisure for souvenir shopping on the Calle de los artesanos in Moravia (30 minute-ride). 

Back to San José (45 minute-ride). 

Overnight in San José in a hotel.  


DAY 10 

Breakfast (May not be included according to your flight schedule) 

Transfer towards San José airport. 

Return flight
