Museo del PradoDay 3    MADRID

Breakfast. 

Morning: panoramic guided tour of the capital (includind Plaza Mayor): La Plaza dates back to the 17th century. A social center, it used to host bull races, trials during the Inquisition and public executions. At its center stands an equestrian statue of Felipe III. 

Lunch on your own at your expense. 

Afternoon: tour of the Royal Palace. Designed to impress the crowds, the Madrid Royal Palace stands at a height overlooking the rio Manzanares, on the site occupied by the Alcazar fortress during centuries before being destroyed by a fire in 1734. Felipe V then requested a grand building. Its construction lasted 26 years. Unguided tour of the Prado Museum, one of the most renowned art museums in the world. It holds numerous paintings by Velasquez and Goya and the latter has a statue facing the main entrance.

Cordoba's MosqueDay 4   MADRID – CORDOBA

Breakfast. 

Morning: journey towards Andalusia. Crossing of the Castilla La Mancha (land of the Don Quixote adventures). 

Lunch on your own and at your expense.

Afternoon: Self-guided tour of Cordoba. Discover the Jewish quarter and its flowery alleys, the Mosque-Cathedral and the Tower of Calahorra. The old town holds most of the mainWith its narrow streets, its wrought iron balconies and its goldsmith workshops, it seems to have remained unchanged since the 10th century.

Sevilla's AlcazarDay 5   SEVILLA


Breakfast.

Morning: Self-guided tour of Seville. You will explore the cathedral (built on the site of the former Mosque, of which the Patio de los Naranjos and the Giralda, which was originally a minaret, are witnesses) and the Catholic Monarchs’ Alcazar. Stroll through Parque Maria Luisa to visit the Plaza de España (official pavilion of the 1929 Exposición Ibéro-Americana).

Lunch on your own and at your expense.

Afternoon: end of the self-guided tour of Seville.  

Possibility of visiting a bull farm. 


Back to Cordoba.  

Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Cordoba.

AlhambraDay 6     CORDOBA – GRANADA

Breakfast. 

Morning: crossing of the olive tree region. Possibility of visiting an olive oil mill.

Lunch on your own and at your expense.

Afternoon: Self-guided tour of the Alhambra palace and of the Generalife gardens. You will travel between dream and reality as you walk through this complex of palaces, fortresses and gardens where water fountains squirt from every side. The palaces, which constructions essentially began in the 15th century, and the Alhambra gardens form a true city inside the ramparts. From the Alhambra, a path leads to the Generalife which served as a summer residence for the Nasrid sultans. Its name means: “garden of the supreme paradise”.

Possibility of a tapas dinner and/or of a gypsy flamenco evening in the characteristic Sacromonte area.

SevillaDay 7   GRANADA –VALENCIA – PEÑISCOLA

Afternoon: Self-guided tour of Barcelona: stroll along the Ramblas and in the Barrio Gothic district. Barcelona, active port of the Mediterranean, is also an important cultural center. The success of the 1992 Olympic Games has demonstrated the dynamism and the efficiency of the inhabitants.

Las RamblasDay 9      BARCELONA

Breakfast. 

Morning: guided tour on the theme of Gaudi and the Modernism: the Park Guëll, the Sagrada Familia (tour), the Casa Batlo and Casa Pedrera façades. 

Lunch on your own at your expense. 

Afternoon: free time to shop for souvenirs. 

Dinner and overnight at the hotel on Barcelona’s coast.   

Day 10     BARCELONA – CANADA  

Breakfast.  

Transfer to the airport in Barcelona.
